Acupuncture is based on Chinese Medicine principles that have been developed and refined for over 2000 years. Acupuncture treats the whole person and balances our physical, emotional and spiritual energies to restore good health. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, the smooth flow of our vital energy can be disturbed by many factors including, physical and emotional stress, infections, injury, poor nutrition and environmental factors. When the flow of our vital energy is disturbed, ill health or pain may result.
Acupuncture involves the use of fine needles, inserted into specific
points on the body to balance the energy flow.
Many people come to acupuncture for help with a specific symptom, pain or condition. Some use acupuncture because they feel generally unwell but their doctor can make no obvious diagnosis. Others choose it to help maintain good health or just to improve their sense of well being.
Acupuncture is often thought of as a means of pain relief...it can in fact treat a wide range of conditions. The Advertising Standards Agency no longer allow Acupuncturists to list the conditions that acupuncture can be used to treat. Please contact Eileen to discuss if acupuncture is appropriate for you.
British Acupuncture Council has a series of fact sheets on a variety of conditions. These discuss the relevant research about the effects of acupuncture on the conditions, ranging from Allergic Rhinitis, depression, fertility problems, headaches musculoskeletal problems to Vertigo.
